I think low X-rays are probably blocked by foil, but lead definitely will block it. Is your lunch box made of metal?

But you are right that most of the man made stuff has some side effects, I have seen many reports on old type of Cell Phone s having damaging effect on human brain.

You may try and experiment with different containers and see which one does not show the contents on the X-ray machine. You may have to make friends in the security department, LOL.
