Day 18 and a question.
Hi all, I started
Water Fasting on August 9th and still going, hopefully to 30-40 days. I'm 26, 5'3", started at 215 lbs and now weigh 188
lbs. The weight loss has been stalled for some reason the past few days, I feel like it's even going up and down, but I don't mind as long as it's not a bad sign (maybe it's the gas? explained further down). Losing weight is a goal of mine but I mainly started because I was having horrible side-effects to birth control, pain killers,
Antibiotics , etc. after having pancreatitis and my gallbladder removed. Mainly suicidal depression. And it's lasted for several months and has caused many problems and pain in my life. I plan to re-feed raw vegan, as I'm already a vegan, and then start another fast to continue weight loss, probably shorter, but we'll see. I'm sure there will still be more healing needed anyway. I've been out of work so I'm able to spend my days resting.
I've not had many symptoms from fasting at all, the first 3 days were easy peasy and normal and this is my second fast. The first was done 5 months prior in the hospital for pretty much 2 weeks on an IV while I had pancreatitis, but along with
Antibiotics and other medications so I'm not sure that counts completely! I experienced a little lower back pain 5 days ago but it's since gone. Now I've had some stomach discomfort, which I assumed and was confirmed today that it was a LOT of trapped gas and stool that's been sitting way up in my intestines and is no where near exiting. I have a biliary stent that needs removal so today I was given an x-ray to find it's placement and my stomach was basically a gaseous blob. :') My blood results were totally fine, though, which I'm happy about. The stent was supposed to be removed months ago but there was some mismanagement at the clinic and I was far too patient, so they checked me out to make sure everything was fine still. I did not tell them I was fasting and don't intend to. My endoscopy should be in the next couple of weeks and I assume I'll be under anesthesia for a short time again. I'm worried this is going to make the gas and bloating too hardcore to handle lol. Is there a way I can get rid of the gas and induce the bowel movement before my body is ready? I feel like this thing isn't even going to start moving until I re-feed...
And no, I don't intend to break my fast, I had surgery to remove my gallbladder at the end of my fast in the hospital, I don't feel like it's unsafe. A little endoscopy certainly shouldn't kill me. But if anyone has an experience or thoughts otherwise, I'm still open minded. :)
