I think BACTERIA is the real issue. I tried to control my folliculitis with an antibacterial wash (Phisohex) by following the instructions, with partial success. I think the wash killed ALL the bacteria, including the good bacteria needed to fight the baddies. I have had much better control (not complete cure) by dabbing a small amount of straight Phisohex on any new lump (and ONLY the lump) and leaving it on for about 5-10 minutes, and then wash off.
