Re: Folliculitis even on face and ear
I've had "folliculitis" on my scalp for over a year now, and the dermatologists are just spinning their wheels, in my opinion. I tried
Antibiotics (one of them gave me a severe reaction), topical steroids, topical
Antibiotic cream, oil of oregano (stinky), coconut oil, apple cider vinegar...etc. I finally discovered that keeping my scalp as bacteria-free as possible helped control it. I used Hibiclens 2x/day and followed with a dandruff-control shampoo. I then used the clindamycin cream on top of that. I changed my pillow case every night and my towels almost as frequently. But then I started to wonder - why couldn't my scalp tolerate a small amount of bacteria, when it's supposed to occur naturally? So I started investigating alternatives to improve my immune system. The most effective by far is topical magnesium. I just started by taking
Epsom Salt baths every night for a week and saw a huge improvement (also it's really relaxing). Then I got a topical "magnesium oil" and I spray that on my scalp in the morning and evening (and then rinse). I see a huge difference - my scalp is way less itchy and the hair isn't falling out like it was. I still apply the clindamycin cream to any new bumps that appear, but the all-over bacteria war is over (and it's a relief, it was exhausting!). Good luck to you - try the
Epsom Salts as a low-cost way to try it out!
