Re: stroke vs supplements

Ginagirl, L-Taurine is necessary as it stabilizes nerve cell membranes, which continously receive and transmit electrical impulses as the result of the movement of Na, K, Ca, Mg and other ions back and forth across the cell membrane. If the cell membrane is electrically unstable, the nerve cell may fire too rapidly or erratically, which may cause an epilepsy crisis, so by making the nerve cell membranes more electrically stable, taurine prevents this erratic firing. (Taurine is closely associated with Zn and Mn, also with vit. B6).

...They had to medicate her with anti-epileptic drugs...

L-Cysteine (or NAC) is usually critical missing portion and helps to increase the gluthathione levels and gluthatione has been shown to improve the prognosis of stroke victims, those who lose gluthatione from the brain in the cerebrospinal fluid have a poorer prognosis.

Magnesium is also a natural inhibitor of N methyl D aspartic acid, a neurotransmitter suspected to be onvolved in strokes and epilepsy. Zinc is also an inhibitor of aspartic acid neurotransmission (no Aspartame sweeteners).

Maybe also some protease enzymes outside the meals maybe helpfull to clear the debris in the blood.

Wishing your Mom a continuous emprovement, I know it is a very difficult period for her and all the best to her and you !
