I took the Doxycycline for 6 weeks.

I chose this length of time because I researched on early Lyme disease and this was the course of treatment for that.

As I was treating skin mites, I realise this has nothing to do with Lyme disease but wanted to ensure no bacteria were left behind from the mites.

I do know of one colleague in the US who had bird mites also and has developed Lyme disease.

To be clear, I was not targeting Lyme, but targeting bacteria that the parasite may harbour and/or leave behind after cure.

I am not suggesting you do 6 weeks, perhaps check what ICU's protocol says on the subject. Just answering the question of how long others took it for.
