I've read several different opinions.

The strongoloids I have had for 50 years. I have severe disc and bone disintegration that started when I was about 12. They are also in my right hip and thigh bone.

I had a DX give me tetracycline 250 mg daily even though he would not acknowledge the parasite. I took it every day for years and then they took it off the market.

The opinions are 6 weeks to 6 months. I am going for 6 months since the tetra did not kill them I need to do 200mg twice a day.

They then say you should do 6 weeks twice a year after the initial course.

It must work I have holes down my back over the spine where the parasites are digging their way out.
I'm only pulsing the Albendazole because I have an allergic reaction to it.

I took the Doxycycline for 6 weeks.

I chose this length of time because I researched on early Lyme disease and this was the course of treatment for that.

As I was treating skin mites, I realise this has nothing to do with Lyme disease but wanted to ensure no bacteria were left behind from the mites.

I do know of one colleague in the US who had bird mites also and has developed Lyme disease.

To be clear, I was not targeting Lyme, but targeting bacteria that the parasite may harbour and/or leave behind after cure.

I am not suggesting you do 6 weeks, perhaps check what ICU's protocol says on the subject. Just answering the question of how long others took it for.

I have been sick for a year in a half with Lyme disease, I have flair ups everyday except for some random days that I have relief. I have been taking 200mg Doxycycline everyday for 13months. I wish I could quit taking it but I get extreme inflammation and allergy attacks; (everything from eye discharge, crawling/ pin pricks, sensitivity to warm temperatures, hard to swallow, stiff neck pain etc...). The doxy seems to help most with these side effects. The major problem I face now is that I believe I have bird mites now( I had contagious feral cats that I take care of and they like to bring me dead birds). 13 months is a really long time (I take probiotic too), could my long-term I'm suffering be caused by the bird mites and or be causing co-infections??? Monthly fenben/every possible natural supplement to rid do not work completely. Am I gonna be on doxycycline forever? My insurance does not cover Lyme so I feel hopeless
