Help with Progesterone Usage

Hi,
I'm trying to recover from adrenal fatigue and hormonal imbalances right now and was given a progesterone "oil blend" today by my doctor. I havent had a menstrual period since June 2014, which im assuming is caused by stress, estrogen dominance, and low progesterone/ pregnenolone steal.
I have very low energy throughout the day and my progesterone was low on my saliva test.
So, to help supplement the much needed progesterone and induce a period, im starting progesterone. My doctor (who is a chiropractor) doesnt seem to understand how to administer this sort of hormone, and her directions dont make sense.

I was told to take 2 drops, 2x day, once at breakfast, once before sleep, every day until a period is induced.then, im supposed to take it "as directed" on the box, which just says "apply 2 to 5 drops, repeat procedure twice daily from mid-cycle to menstrual flow".
I am concerned because i thought that you are only supposed to be on progesterone supplements for 10 to 14 days. however, if ive been deficient in it for so long, does this change how it is supposed to be taken?

also, for anyone with AF who has used progesterone, does it make you wired and increase your cortisol before bed? i already have insomnia and want to avoid any more cortisol surges.

im not getting much help from her, so im hoping someone can help me please and lend some advice.
