Low Progesterone

This is something I never heard before.

"Just want to write this in case anyone is still dealing with the peeling lips; for women, this can be caused by too much estrogen to too little progesterone; in other words, low progesterone. Someone even wrote an article called "My Menopausal Lips", which you can google to read her story. Of course, hormones can be out of wack for women who are not headed into the pre-menopausal years; stress can trigger imbalance, for example. A daily herbal infusion of RED CLOVER and RED RASPBERRY LEAF has worked wonders for me; my lips started doing this a year ago and I tracked it and noticed that it seemed to get worse or slightly better depending on where I was in my cycle. I make a quart of herbal infusion using 1/2 cup of each herb into a quart jar, fill with boiling water and steep 4 hours - overnight. I drink 1/2 of it one day and refrigerate the other 1/2 quart for the next day. You can google Susun Weed (herbalist) to learn more about the balancing benefits of red clover and raspberry leaf. I had three weeks of totally normal lips and then they got bad right at my period when the hormones crash for that; now that I'm at day 9 of my cycle (just past period), my lips don't feel tight and stopped peeling. I continue to drink 1/2 quart daily of this infusion, which is rich in vitamins and minerals too and a great way to nourish the body and stay hydrated. The combination of these herbs are a fantastic balancer for the female hormones. PEPPERMINT TEA is also believed to encourage progesterone levels so I drink a cup of that in the evening. I had tried many things before finding what worked, and realizing that it was an underlying hormonal issue driving the problem. I hope this helps someone. I am 45; had my last kids (twins) at age 40, still having normal periods but under a lot of ongoing stress and noticed my lips getting completely tight and lacking moisture and constant peeling and stinging one year ago."
