Re: Liver flush never working AND constant bloating.
What happened was that, in my mid-30's, I got really bad rosacea all over my face. I'd always had good skin, so this was extremely upsetting to me. I'd had some other issues in the past like anxiety and dizziness, but I had never associated diet with those other issues. I read that rosacea was caused by problems in the intestines and I also heard that the Specific Carbohydrate Diet could heal the intestines. That diet required you to cut out a lot of carbohydrates. Any animal protein was fine. I'm very determined once I start something, so I ate that way for a long time (several years). The one good thing was that I stopped eating processed foods and started eating only organic, but I ate a lot of meat. The diet actually didn't help my face at all and I didn't feel good about eating the food on the diet, but I was so confused about what I should eat, that I just kept going. I just started to feel really unwell. My anxiety was out of control - I was always nervous speaking in front of groups, but at that point, I couldn't even speak to another person without panicking. I was in a constant state of panic around people. I'm really good at hiding things, though, so only the people closest to me knew about the issue. My job involves a lot of interaction with people, so it was extremely hard. At the same time, I felt a lot of pressure on my organs and when I ate fat it was really bad. I got this really bad feeling around my throat/tongue. I can't explain it - it kind of seemed like I was suffocating. I really didn't know what to do because I didn't know what to eat and I didn't know what my alternatives were. There was a natural doctor's office near my house and I decided to go there, and that's where I discovered the flush and I also switched to a vegan diet. I gradually got healthier. My face is completely clear now, I don't have any wrinkles, I'm frequently told that I look like I'm in my early '30's even though I'm about to turn 44. I do have an extremely stressful job, but for several years I've actually become really good at leading meetings, dealing with people etc. My mind also became clear and I started producing work that was better than what I'd done previously. In my mind, eating that high-protein diet caused things to be so bad that I found a solution that turned my life around, so I'm grateful for it.
