I have several CLD's(Current Limiting Diodes) and several adjustable current output
circuits. One uses 2 transistors and another uses a chip-One uses 3VDC input boosted to 36VDC at an adjustable current of 100-microAmps to 5-milliAmps output. The circuits and diodes cost under $30.00 to buy and build.
