It is really high Aldosterone that leads to high blood pressure. Aldosterone retains fluids.

What happens when you are stuck in a state of stress, but have weak adrenals is "cortisol steal" (google it).

Your adrenal are not producing much ... but what they are producing is all going towards cortisol.

So progesterone, aldosterone, and other hormones may be low, even though cortisol is high (or at least high in the morning).

In earlier stages of adrenal fatigue (stage 2), you might have both high cortisol and high aldosterone.

But once you start craving salt ... you are probably low in aldosterone.
