I am kind of in the same boat, trying to navigate the Iodine supplementation.
The return of clarity seems like a good sign it's something your body needs - I had the same experience after trying iodine, except now I'm having awful detox symptoms. The first few days being like heaven, I'm prepared to bite the bullet and wait out the detox symptoms. I know what you mean about experimenting - I think there is no such thing as having full confidence, it's all trial and error.
There's a lot of co-supplements you need with Iodine and I have no idea about the dosing (still trying to figure that one out, and I have hashi's). I also have a calmer pulse on Iodine - I think that's a good sign it's something your body needs.
I would try to get as much knowledge as you can on it - it sounds like it's probably one of the best options to get out all those metals!
