Trapper,
There is an indirect link to Iodine because hemochromatosis is related to hypothyroidism in certain people with the gene. Cure the hypothyroidism and iron regulation improves. Anything that contributes to hypothyroidism can have an effect on people with the genes that cause HH.

So clearly there are links to bromide, fluoride & chlorine as well. Of course taking Iodine has the double whammy of replacing these toxins with Iodine at the cellular level, and allows the thyroid to function as it was intended. It is impossible for the thyroid to function properly when loaded down with the toxins of fluoride, bromide & chlorine.
