ever since i started taking
Iodine i have become super sensitive to metals and chemicals. they do not debilitate me. it seems like the
Iodine ushers them to the senses so i can pick up on it. sometimes this can be quite dramatic. i can walk into a lazyboy store and the whole front of my face will go numb. all of the fluorine in the stain resistance and bromine in the flame retardants really do a number on me. its because of iodine, i am sure. those molecules would be absorbed into the system without it. this is one of the big reasons i take as much as a do - between a gram and 1.5 grams every day. my wife bought a new mattress and i cant sense a thing at this dose, keeping the gasses out completely, i hope.
i figured out that an average adult could take 3 grams of
Iodide a day indefinitely. more than that would be for therapeutic use only. this is based purely on my experience and observations of recent anecdotes and historical record(thank you wombat!!!!! {{{hug}}}). more than that started to mess with my flora and fauna over time. with doses as large as 10 grams in the record and accidental "poisoning" of an estimated 60 grams and they survived (most uncomfortably), i would say that what we are talking about taking is nothing. it really isnt. i would not hesitate to give anyone who is unmedicated a gram of KI, from puberty to grave. its that safe.
so to answer your question now that i have ranted - :) - you are detoxing metals. as V has pointed out recently,
Iodine is not a chelator, its a mobilizer. that stuff is free to do its thing once released. keep your antioxidants up, salt and water for maximum hydration, and look into what it may be and if you need to chelate. i have had good experiences with DMSA for mercury.
