Re: Delusional parasitosis

It's no problem. And I can completely understand where you are coming from in the area of defensiveness. I have been DE CLAREd delusional sometimes myself and later we all found out I was not. I was mad and very resentful.

Well once they said I was delusional and guess what? I was.

I was in school studying about al kinds of diseases etc....people were getting sick left and right. People were talking about something being contagious and I thought for sure I had it. I even had real symptoms symptoms too. It ends up that I did not have it though.....and neither did the others who thought they had it.

I never felt the doctors thought of me as stupid or a mental case or anything like that. In fact, they explained to us that it is just a phenomenon that happens and it's on a continuum and can happen to many people...anybody. And it can spread amongst people. The doctor himself told me once that he, himself had delusions of having cancer throughout medical school and had to seek psychological help for it.....he also said it was very common amongst medical students in general.

As for the doctors that are lazy and just look at you and write you off - well that is just terrible. But they are not all bad and I had one recently who went through so so much to do all kinds of tests to try and help me. He was very nice and never made me feel bad. But I have been around the ones who make you feel like crap and it's horrible. I'm sorry that you have had that experience too.

I have to say though that one thing that makes doctors weary is reading this site. You seem intelligible in your descriptions but the way some others describe having parasitic infections is just to out there for anyone to handle...especially if they are hostile, speaking about devils, demons, being possessed, parasites being higher beings, smarter than us, causing us to commit crimes, etc.

Many do read this forum and see some of the weird stuff and they do ask their patients sometimes if they are members.
