Re: Update on my Lips
Hi all. I can only echo what Daniel has posted.
My EC started in early 2007 when I believe I overdosed on different supplements.
For two years EC pretty much dictated my life. I'd come home from work and be on this forum checking for cures or looking elsewhere on the internet. I must have spent thousands of
pounds on different supplements and creams that I hoped would help.
I still believe that my condition is caused by problems with sebaceous glands in the lips and is linked to Fordyce's Spots which coincided with the onset of EC. You can't see these spots to the naked eye though so I don't worry about their appearance.
My basic regimen now involves peeling the lips after a thorough soaking in the shower, applying a moisturiser and getting on with my day. People rarely notice anything is wrong with my lips. When I told my girlfriend of three months she honestly didn't know I had any problem with them at all!
Do not let EC dictate your life. I look back to when this condition started and realise how stupid I was.
Like Daniel, I find that sensible exposure to the sun seems to help the appearance of my lips. I would also advise against peeling the lips with anything other than your finger tip. I find if you start peeling and pulling at the lips with tweezers etc. this really seems to redden them and create inflammation.
I still check back on here every now and then hoping someone has found a magical cure. If not I truly believe that one day my body might figure out the cure for me.
If not I'm going to continue enjoying life. Good luck everyone.
And always keep the unity in the peeling lip community! ;)
Regards,
Juno
