Hey Maxime! Thanks so much for your comment that was very nice :) I appreciated it!
I personally don't think leaving them alone is the "fastest" way to heal them, however I still do believe that
eventually they would have healed. It would have probably been a few more years of ugliness though. I did remove it manually, yes, but ONLY when the crust had completely separated underneath. I used fingernail clippers to cut them off. It didn't cause any trauma.
Moisture treatment, means apply cream/whatever whenever the lips might feel dry, and not peeling them, however also not letting the buildup get too built up either, as some people believe a fungal growth could occur, so perhaps once per month letting the dead skin come off. But for the most part it should come off naturally while using creams/shower. I do believe this is the easiest and fastest way to cure this condition. However like I said before I QUIT doing this treament in July, and I now rub any buildup that may get on throughout the day (although my buildup is still minimal and is not getting worse.
As far as the inner lips I do have some issues with them yes, but as long as aquaphor is on them then I dont' have any issues with talking. If they become dry I just put more on.
Now to answer your other question:
As far as a list of what helped the most, I believe it was a combination of EVERYTHING that helped.
1. Lots of Sun
2. Constant Moisture
3. Low trauma
4. Good attitude towards your condition
5. Eating healthy is good too
I hope this helps :)
