Re: Turmeric Extract Puts Drugs For Knee Osteoarthritis To Shame
I think the absorption issue may be related to how the product is consumed. Several years ago I met an Indian man that somehow we started talking about herbs. Maybe I had told him I was taking something for something or another. But he told me turmeric in milk was a staple in his home. Said he grew up on it. At the time I think he said it knocked out a cold very quickly.
Years later I read that turmeric has several components that are only fat soluble (only absorbed when a fat is present). This made me remember what the guy told me about turmeric in milk.
Maybe there is something to it. I found this thread doing research on turmeric because I was about to purchase a turmeric extract (an alcohol base) and wanted to know the other benefits of it. I plan to put the drops in milk based on what I learned about turmeric from years ago.
Just thought I would add that to this thread since it is about absorption. I'm sure there are some components that may be water or alcohol soluble. But just in case, it may be helpful to take it with a fatty meal or in whole milk.
