Re: What's the highest dosage for SSKI [edit]
well, that is a good question.
the MSDS seems conflicting to me.
http://www.esciencelabs.com/files/chatcher/Iodine%20Potassium%20Iodide.pdf
it says the LD50 for rats is 14 grams per kilogram. then it goes on to say the lowest lethal dose (for humans or rats?) is 28mg per kilo. that would be not quite three grams for me! i have a very hard time believing that.using the Lethal Dose in 50% of the participants in a rat study, that would be about one and a quarter kilos of KI.
i put what i estimated was about 100grams in a hot bath once and i got too much
Iodine and a huge forehead headache.
there was also a story i dont know where about an accidental poisoning involving a man who took a bottle from a womans fridge and it was
SSKI and he drank a large amount of it. somehow the number of 60grams estimated ingested, but i couldnt swear to it.[edit: he survived, though he got extremely uncomfortable]
the most i have heard of old doctors prescribing was 10 grams.
all of life is at your own risk and so is everything we talk about.
