I'm on 5 grams a day. Lower dosages just don't do it for me. I return to hypo under 5 grams.
I guess/hope that as long as you titrate up slowly and listen to your body, you could go higher. Just add a little bit every week or so?
But it could also be that the
SSKI doesn't get absorbed very well. Do you take B2 500mg and B3 500mg? They help build the NIS (iodine symporters) that get the
Iodine into the cells. B2 and B3 made a big difference for me in the beginning. Now it doesn't anymore, I guess that's because my NIS's are back?
Maybe your and my digestion system aren't very good yet, and a lot of the
SSKI gets wasted.
I have diarrhea a lot too. Not watery, but definitely not solid. Maybe that't because of the high
SSKI ? What helps is ACV (=apple cider vinegar with the mother), ACV is good for your intestinal flora as well. Also turmeric will thicken the stool, and is very healthy besides, it helps with inflammation.
Do you use enough selenium? And do you make sure you get enough protein? Your thyroid needs both to work well. You can get hyperthyroidism because of lack of tyrosine. Also because of lack of selenium.
Rapid heartbeat can be caused by hyperthyroidism and by lack of magnesium. If you're having diarrhea, it will be very hard to get enough magnesium into you. Magnesium will thin the stool. And the diarrhea will flush magnesium out of your system. Try to find the magnesium that your digestive tract tolerates best. For me, that's a chelated form: glycinate or lysinate. You could also take baths with
Epsom Salt or magnesium chloride. Or use magnesium chloride dissolved in water (=magnesium oil) on your skin.
Inability to gain weight might be because of the diarrhea and hyperthyroidism.
It's a difficult puzzle.
