Re: TSH doubled up after supplementing iodine
I have been taking 5 gram
Iodide (as
SSKI ) for a few months now. Not only has it made my detox easier, it has kept my hypo at bay.
On the lower (300 mg) dosages, the hypo would still creep up on me every now and then, for instance during menstruation.
On the lower (300 mg) dosages, if I forgot to take my
SSKI in the morning, I would be really tired that same day. And if I took all of the 300 mg in the morning and none during the rest of the day, I would be getting tired after 12 o'clock at midday.
I can take the 5 gram dosages in the morning and I stay fresh all day. Also, when I forget to take it now (after having been on it for a few months), I don't get that immediate reaction any more of getting tired that day. I simply start up again the next day.
But: I tried 1 gram dosages in the beginning and it just freaked me out! It made me so very hyper! And then after a few days I would crash. So the high dosage of 5 grams works well for me right now, but it didn't in the beginning. In hindsight I believe that this was because I was lacking in so many nutrients that my body simply couldn't process that amount of iodide. The
Iodide was making my thyroid work better, which made my whole body work faster, which made the demand on the nutrients much larger. But the nutrients simply weren't there.
What works for one person, can be really bad for another! You have to really listen to your body and figure out what works best for you.
Dosages of 50 mg or 100 mg do very little for me, except give me zits. I was hypo for more then 10 years before I found iodine. My breasts are full of fibroids. Who knows what's happening in my uterus and ovaries. I have mercury poisoning. I'm estrogen dominant.
Iodine has lots to do in my body.
