TSH doubled up after supplementing iodine
I am terribly freaked out right now.
I had an history of hypothyroidism and was terribly
Iodine deficient.
So I started supplementing
Iodine in order to get rid of these problems I had (hair loss, overweight, dry skin, freezing to death all the time).
It's been nearly 3 months that I started supplementing
Iodine and all of these symptoms disappeared.
So I asked my doctor to do a TSH and T4 test in order to see the progress I did and these deeply scary results came out :
04/09/13 TSH 3.99 (range 0.25-5.00)
29/01/13 (before starting iodine supp) TSH 2.04
04/09/13 Free T4 13.43 (8.20-15.00)
I don't know how much free T4 I had before as I didn't do the test.
Another information is that my white blood cell count was slashed down (from 5.38 to 4.38, range 4-10).
Free T4 levels are great but TSH doubled, what the hell is happening?
How can this happen?
What will happen to me? Will I grow a goiter, will it cause rebound hypothyroidism?
I don't know what to do anymore, stop supplementing iodine or keep doing it?
I thought iodine was supposed to lower TSH levels?
What is happening to me? Has anyone ever experienced that?
