Re: Neck pain after starting iodine supplementation
If you get selenium deficient while on (high) iodine, you will damage your thyroid. This hurts. Read Grizz's collected info on selenium here:

Dr. Tenpenny also has some excellent info on this, watch her video and read the transcript on this. They are in this section of Grizz's information:

So, if you take iodine, always, always also take selenium.
If you take selenium without iodine, and you have an
Iodine deficiency going on in your body, there will be no damage to your thyroid. The selenium will increase the conversion of T4 to T3 and this will then deplete the T4 (and eventually T3), which will make you feel hypothyroid. But the reason for the shortage of T4 (and the hypothyroidism/ slow thyroid) is not the selenium, the reason is the absence of iodine. The absence of
Iodine is preventing the thyroid from making T4. Dr. Tenpenny explains all this in her video. She talks very fast, but just print out the transcript and read alongside watching the video: it makes it easier to understand.
Taking them both (selenium and iodine) together solves the problem. It is safest to start the selenium first and then after a month or so start adding in the iodine.
You will notice the pain reduce once you start the selenium. If/when you feel yourself getting hypothyroid again, you know you are
Iodine deficient.
