The reason the silver is softly stirred is to keep the silver from concentrating between the electrodes, causing agglomeration (larger particles) between the electrodes.

So in my opinion the ultrasonic would likely over stir the solution. The contaminates from the electrodes would be stirred into the solution instead of dropping to the bottom.
