The lumen of the gut never becomes totally void of beneficials, even the many hundreds of strains, but the population will DROP. When we see a NG ("nil growth")on a stool report beneficial culture, it does not mean "100% completely zero, void of every single bacterium" when it comes to the many beneficial strains which may be affected through dysbiosis, so it is important not to think that you are left with a completely sterile gut that requires complete restoration, it just does not happen like this.

Eating the right kinds of dietary fiber along with those ferments and cultured foods ensures the right environment and foods for beneficials. You don't need those "mega 100 trillion" types of probiotic brands like many claim. A good probiotic only needs a few high quality beneficials, with lacto. acid. and bifidobacterium being the main ones.
