Re: My bi-yearly check in

Thanks again for the brill info - connecting dots is my new profession ;-)

I'll look more into the OKG...it sounds interesting.

The Vit D cofactors - i read recently that Vit A and D should be taken widely apart from one another as they compete. It was a online doctors article (i might be able to find it again in my mega list of faves) who was shooting-down Dr Yashko for suggesting Vit A and D for her autistic kids.

They talk about the article here:
http://www.longecity.org/forum/topic/25098-vitamin-a-antagonizes-vitamin-d/

Also:
http://www.lef.org/magazine/mag2010/jan2010_Startling-Findings-About-Vitamin-...

"In another surprising revelation, scientists have discovered that high-dose vitamin A antagonizes the beneficial action of vitamin D in the body.32-34 This finding might explain why certain studies of people using commercial multivitamins (that contain too much vitamin A and woefully inadequate vitamin D) have failed to yield expected health benefits."

Pubmed studies show A and D are antagonists in rats - how that relates to humans i'm unsure really but guess it's something to think about.

I need Vit A retinol from fish liver as the gene test showed mutations in coverting beta-carotene into Vit A - hence my night blindness and lifelong Acne problems...aswell as an insane carrot addiction!

I've been taking vit A and D apart by 1 day to avoid this. Magnesium is something i take with zinc at night.
When to take and coupled with what is something that has me in a spin regarding supplements! I try to take all fats seperately from water-based. B's on their own. It leads to forgetting to take them sometimes due to trying to prevent the atagonistic response.

There may be an anomoly with the histamine/SAMe test - that chick which got crazy agitated and suicidal you read about was probably me as i wrote a post about it on here asking if others had experienced severed reactions to SAMe!
I didn't know at the time but since have found out i have a few double mutations in the methylation cycle, including MTHFR so intolerance of methyl donors would create that type of reaction.
Protocol for methylation genetic mutations is to start super low with methyl donors - like 1mg Folate...i took 400mg SAMe, which is also a methyl donor. My reaction was a super-herx. - opening the 'stable door' wide to a toxic load of back-up from a under-working methylation cycle.
Niacin is the antidote to this reaction - which i didn't know at the time.

I'm yet to get my head around the likely level of histamine due to the methylation cycle under-working, but as with everyone, different folks different reaction, and the body tried it's best to compensate so it's hard to know definitively.

Like you say - extremely hot torso and heat flashes, flushing when only slightly nervous, flushing with niacin, my face skin looks permanently flushed...so i still think i'm high histamine despite the SAMe reaction.

I'm really wanting to get some diagnostics to confirm much of these imbalances we all experience with AF, CFS, etc...when i'm next dumping copper and in a coppery rage i think i'll book an appointment with another doctor and demand my tax money be put to use to help me! ;-)

Thanks again for the great info :-)
