Re: Another interpretation of this parable...
I have to ask either of you, have you been perfect? Have you sold all the possessions that you have? It doesn't say have you gotten rid of all distractions. No, it says sold all of your possessions, that would include a car even, and whatever else.
Matthew 19:21
Jesus said to him, “If you would be PERFECT, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”
If you go even farther down, you see the disciples asking who can be saved, and Jesus showing once again, that there is nothing we can do to make that happen:
Matthew 19:25
“Who then can be saved?” 26 But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
Salvation is of the Lord! Nothing we do is going to earn it!
But those who the Lord begins a work in, will follow Him! He began a work in the disciples, and they followed Him! But they were not perfect in that. They made many mistakes along the way.
Philippians 1:6
Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.
