Re: Why waking up at 5 am anxious?

Do a salivary cortisol test - one sample at 8.00am, one at 12.00pm, one at 4.00pm and the last one at 10.30pm.

You are best to get rid of ALL caffeine in your life, and be sure to keep regular hours, i.e; get to bed when you are tired. Weird sleep cycles can often be attributed to an elevated early morning cortisol level (between 2 - 5 am), and not a "deficiency" of melatonin. Pregnenolone is not a clever idea, it is the precursor to DHEA and progesterone, which converts to cortocosteroids in the body. I've personally never been a fan of "replacement" hormonal therapy when it comes to insomnia, fatigue, low libido, etc. It's like extending unlimited credit to a person on the street with absolutely no interest in ever looking for employ. You may as well hand them a rope.

I believe that ZRT labs do the best test in USA when it comes to cortisol/saliva. A bit pricey, but a top lab with some of the best technicians.
