Re: I want medicine, not supplements

Hi HypoglyNOTHypochon,

A safe dose of hydrocortisone is judged for me is by how my body is feeling. I was put on 30-50 mg from conventional Dr's Diagnosed with Addison's. I gained almost 30 lb mostly in the stomach..horrible feeling...I learned I need to listen to my body. I take 10 mg daily for the most part(needed to wean down slowly to this. But when I feel like I am weak and my blood pressure drops I will up my dose of hydrocortisone and it takes about 12 minutes to kick in. If still not feeling well I will take up to the dose that makes me feel well. I was under a lot of stress over a pets surgery and I got very very ill feeling I upped my dose so I could get through it and that dose was 32 mg. I was able to go right back down the next day to 10mg with no ill side effects. But If I was taking the higher dose for a few days I would surely need to back down slowly. Blood pressure plays a huge roll in how much I need.

Just wanted to give an update about my sodium loss. It has been 4-5 months since I lost my sodium last. I had rid my body of lots of almuninum and since then I have been holding onto my sodium with no help from meds or even salt. SO I am not sure what the future will hold with the diagnose of Addison's and hydrocoritone..day by day :)

Marie
