Need help with adrenals

I have been supplementing with Iodine for well over a year. I have been using Iodoral and all recommended co-supps diligently. I started off supplementing at 12.5 mg Iodoral and slowly moved up to 25 mg. The detox symptoms were too great so I made the educated decision to ramp up my Iodine intake to 50mg of Iodoral. At that amount my detox symptoms drastically reduced. I continued at the 50mg level for several months and then made the jump up to 100mg. At 100mg I had no detox symptoms at all. I stayed at 100mg for just under 2 months. Shortly after starting the 100mg dosage I began experiencing increased agitation and serious insomnia. I was averaging 3-4 hours of sleep per night. I was really starting to come undone emotionally at this point because of the lack of sleep. I ended up taking a saliva cortisol test that revealed normal cortisol level throughout the day with a spike in the early evening and a continued rise at night. Keep in mind, this was the first time I had any type adrenal dysfunction in my life. I began supplementing with high doses of phosphatidylserine. It worked for a short time then stopped. I then added licorice root to the mix and that really seemed to help. I ended up stopping the licorice root because I was told it was dangerous to supplement with it for extended periods. I then stopped all Iodine completely and most of my symptoms disappeared. No more racing heart, agitation, insomnia, etc. I then decided to go back on the iodine and all of my symptoms returned. It doesn't matter if it is a small dose, 12.5mg or a high dose, 100mg. I am really at a loss as to what is going on. I am scared that the iodine is taxing my adrenals and I don't want to end up with adrenal fatigue. Would love some insight/input as to what might be happening. I just ordered Trapper's SSKI . I am going to give that a try as soon as I get it.
