I ~know~ where these "rope"/thread/string/filament/fibril thingys came from, but heck if I know what they are! I've been scouring the internet for information for months. Then I read the article stating that the "rope" parasites can be over a meter long with smaller stages residing most anywhere in the body. I thought maybe I'd found a match, so went ahead and posted the pics.

The article had no photos, so the internet comparison picture was the closest I could possibly get for making a halfway sensible comparison. If fungus is doing this at microscopic levels then it makes sense that it would at a more macro level. These are not that big, only about 3/4 inch.

Scientists are just now discovering "rope" parasites, so what else have they NOT discovered?
