Re: Starting Water Fast
Dear Fellow Human,
Wow, so much can be said on this topic. We could talk for hours, really. I will sum up some advice and tips, and you can take what you want from it and discard the rest.
I have water fasted many times, including once for 40 days (100% water only, not even ice. I lost almost 60 lbs.).
Sorry to be so brief, but time is short today. My advice will likely be much different from what others have to say, but I speak from years of experience and research.
1) Don't do a water fast. You can get the same benefits of fasting by adding lemon juice, or by doing an organic juice fast. Both options are better. Why? Because you are 99% likely to have nutritional deficiencies. Adding juices can boost your nutrients and still be just as effective as water fasting. Having learned what I have learned over the past few years, I won't ever do pure
Water Fasting again.
2) Don't set a time limit. Don't think "I *must* reach 10 days." Your body is more intelligent than you think, and you'll know when it's time to end the fast. Follow your instincts.
3) Drink LOTS of water. Good, pure water. Not tap water. There is a lot of controversy over distilled water. I get water from a machine outside the grocery store for just 25 cents per gallon. It is reverse osmosis, UV screened, triple filtered, etc. Great value, great water.
4) Many will say to do lots of enemas or cleanses (such as with salt water, magnesium sulfate or oxide, senna, etc.). If you feel plugged up, by all means take advantage of a cleanse or natural laxative, but you do NOT need to do them regularly. On my longest
Water Fast (40 days) I kept a log of all my bowel movements, healing reactions, etc. I had a BM on day 36 or 37. Amazing, right? The point is, don't worry, your body WILL expel anything it doesn't need.
5) Don't water fast. Did I already mention that?
6) Drink LOTS of water.
Those last two points I think are important enough to repeat.
Please keep in mind that the current state of your body and health, having pre-existing conditions, may warrant close medical supervision if you water fast. Much less necessary if juice fasting. AT LEAST add fresh lemon juice to your water on occasion if water fasting.
Hope that helps...
