Thinking about the Pulse Dye Laser
The Anti-Sebum gel has decreased the size of my fordyce spots on lip. Since the raw skin where I have fordyce spots has healed with this gel, I can assume the fordyce spots are what causes my top lip to be raw. I will probably have to apply it the rest of my life to maintain results. I would rather have permanent results so I am thinking about the Pulse Dye laser, which is not supposed to scar. I know the treatment is considered cosmetic if it is done on a private part, but the lips are a different case since fordyce spots can cause pain and inflammation on lips- at least in my case where I have raw skin. Despite having not so good health insurance, I am going to see if I can get special authorization for a dermatologist to perform this procedure. I have read the cost can be around $5,000. Perhaps I will only need one session since my fordyce spots are not raised like they are on private parts. Is anyone else considering the Pulse Dye Laser for fordyce spots? First, I needed to know if removing fordyce spots would heal my lip where they were located. And it has.
Fordyce spots are yellow bumps along the lip that are caused by enlargment of sebaceous glands or oil glands. These glands are every deep to remove.
"Another less invasive laser treatment that has seen some success
with fordyce spots has been from pulse Dye Lasers. The laser used
in this particular treatment produces an intense, yet gentle burst of
yellow light onto the skin, which is absorbed by the skin’s blood
vessels. The vessels then coagulate, reabsorbing into the body in a
normal healing process. However, because this treatment does not
scar, it is usually relatively expensive. And given that this is a purely
cosmetic concern, you will have to consider the financial investment
you are making in going through with such as pricey procedure."
"Some patients have found relief through Pulse Dye Lasers, a laser normally used to treat sebaceous gland hyperplasia, which is similar to Fordyce spots."
