If you are in a city with high ozone that might cause an effect with the silver, or some of the airborne pollutants that might be present. The change of color could mean a shape change of the silver, this will cause a color shift. If the shape is larger the color will shift to green, it would still be useful as a surface disinfectant as I would not use it internally
