Re: How do you cope?
Physically:
For breath: Tongue scraper, breath mints, gum, brushing teeth and tongue. A plaque rinse seems to help a bit.
For the body: Personal towelettes every time you go to the bathroom, on breaks, or feel the need to freshen up. Febreeze on the clothes. Don't wear your shoes two days in a row and change socks twice a day. Experiment with deodorants and see which works best on you. Use a talcum powder with baking soda.
Avoid protein in the day and eat it for dinner. Pay close attention to the veggies and fruits you eat. Some might cause BO.
Supplements that might help: chlorophyll, carbon capsules, probiotics
At work:
Leave the windows open in the summer to get circulation going. In the winter, open them about an
inch if possible. Leave the area you work in during breaks and lunch to let it air out. Eat lunch outside if they have areas to do so (the sun's also a good source of vitamin D.) If your job allows, keep moving from one area to another. (The odor won't accumulate in one area if you keep changing areas.) Caution on the air freshners. They do work for a little bit but if you keep using it, the odor tends to cling on the droplets of room deodorizer and makes things worse.
Smile and say hi to your coworkers when you're like 5 or more feet away when passing them. If you need to talk to a coworker about something, stick 2 of 3 mints in your mouth before approaching them. Before a meeting, spray some febreeze on your clothes and pop some breath mints or gum. Try to pick a seat near a door or window. If the door and window are closed, try to get a seat closest to the a/c vent so you won't sweat much.
Psychologically:
Every one of us has experienced a melt down and most on a weekly basis.
Try:
Praying, listening to motivational tapes, listen to music, watch a movie (dvd), watch tv, exercise, talk to a friend, garden, watch comedies or comedians (Utube has some great ones), have a good cry, read a book, anything that makes you feel better but NO drugs or alcohol because those will increase BO.
The internet is filled with helpful things. Google things like uplifting scriptures, scriptures in times of trouble, etc. Watch comedians on utube or movies on sites such as hulu, crackle, and free utube movies.
Hope this helps.
