Re: It is the coal power plants (Plus EDIT)

come on! You really believe that? You think something goes into the ocean and doesn't get into ocean currents and spread all over the ocean? it just settles into one place and never moves? Come on now

I skimmed your link, Where exactly in that document does say 1000 km is the max?

Here is a study which clearly indicates that Mercury from coal-fired power plants gets into deep ocean currents and can then travel hundreds and hundreds of miles.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2721888/

Mercury from Chinese coal power plants is now being recorded off the coast of Alaska.

EDIT:

Okay I read your link. Nowhere in there does it say Mercury stops at 1000 km, in fact it says the opposite. They note that Mercury definitely travels beyond 1000 km, however they stopped studying Mercury that made its way beyond 1000 km point for whatever reason

-- "In addition, these estimates do not include health effects occurring outside of a 1000 kilometer
radius, which are likely to be lower than within that radius but are still nonnegligible (Greco et
al., 2007). Thus, these results can be considered conservative estimates of these 88 coal plant’s
totalimpact on health"--
