I think scripture shows us that each apostle used their natural gifts when the need did arise. All the while they were being shaped by God as their faith did increase and their personal relationship grew more intimate.
The indwelling and power of the Holy Spirit then did move through God's people and they did witness greater gifts and miracles in their everyday lives. A supernatural ministry came about.
