Re: Neurological problems persisting
I follow so many of the adrenal posts, searching for relief myself. HPA axis and copper imbalance and Lyme, along with other co-infections are definitely factors in my own experience. Some of the worst symptoms I have are the neurological ones; spacey, incapable of focusing and brain inflammation which is frightening at times. My fatigue leaves me content, just sitting in a chair.
However, I'm exploring the possibility that conversion errors in my DNA led me to this cumulative state. Paul Robinson wrote a book, Recovering With T3, which determines that there are some of us that cannot convert t4 to use and must use t3 only! many problems build and accumulate, including long term adrenal fatigue due to the stress of poor conversion. He describes a chance to restore circadian rhythm via taking t3 in the middle of the night, to restore the adrenals. Read the book for better understanding.
Since pushing the t4 out via t3 only, I actually feel alert and the nighttime dose seems to be helping balance my cortisol imbalance. The jury is still out and I certainly don't think this is a cure all but I do think, that this newer information on SECONDARY thyroidism is higher up the chain of functions and a real contributor to other issues down the line.
Also, in the way of conversions problems elsewhere, I've been checking out the need for co-enzyme A.
