1st of all, it is soy Lecithin that is used, not the complete soy. This is one thing that is isolated and extracted, leaving the rest behind (such as amino acids).
Yes, soy does suppress the thyroid but those things that do that are not in the lecithin.
And the japanese and chinese only eat small amounts of soy anyway. They aren't a very good example.

This is like saying that dairy products are bad because of the casein (milk protein). So you want to avoid clarified spring butter. But clarified spring butter does not contain any casein, it has all been removed!

I could be wrong but this is how I've seen it so far...
