Re: Mind racing, we met again
I just wanted to respond to this post, related to juicing.
I believe you will find that juice fasts which are mostly of either fruits, or vegetables high in natural sugar, are actually destabilizing of the blood sugar, and probably low in promoting health. Each glass of apple juice, for instance, contains around 4 or more apples worth, so one can see that the
Sugar content is too high not to cause a diabetic-type reaction in anyone who is susceptible.
This is not the case with green vegetables, and this is apparently why the maker of the film "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead" fasted for 60 days on green juices. On this type of fast, the primary content is green vegetables, such as celery, spinach, kale, parsley, cucumbers, etc., with a small amount of low
Sugar fruits thrown in, such as lemons, limes, and maybe a few slices of apple.
Also, using only organic produce will greatly improve the nutrient value of your green fast, and help eliminate cravings for junk food by providing micronutrients. A good book to consult is Richard Anderson's "Cleanse and Purify Thyself". Sodium deficiency is the most common deficiency of minerals that people have. This is because only natural sodium, in plants, supplies the body's sodium needs. Green vegetables provide this sodium abundantly, whereas fruits can lead to excess potassium, and excessive thirst and urination, causing mineral loss. Here are some things that only organic (in plants, not in crystallized salt) sodium does: keeping calcium from hardening in the body, buffering acids in the body, conducting electrical currents, and ensuring the production of hydrochloric acid in the stomach.
I believe green juice fasting is likely the only therapeutic fasting one can do. Unfortunately, many people will reject juicing, due to the negative effects of
juicing only or primarily on fruit juices, or carrots (also very high in natural sugar, and never be aware that green
juicing might be a solution for them.
