Re: Mind racing, we met again
Emotions are affected by your belief system. Right? An event can be looked at as neutral but it's your subjective belief system that determines what emotions you feel.
The easiest way to change your beliefs about something is through exposure/life experiences. Exposure is the opposite of suppression. To me, EFT is a form of suppression in that the emotion comes to the surface and you tap it back into suppression. This is why I can't buy that it is effective at all in the long term.
Regardless, your emotional feeling towards past trauma is just the starting point. This is why people that suffer from PTSD continue to have symptoms even after years of therapy in which afterward they are able to look back at the traumatic event in a close to emotionally neutral way. But they still continue to suffer.
It's what used to frustrate me the most when I first started posting about it here. I would bring up PTSD and immediately people would talk about how their emotions are fine and the did Healing Codes, etc. I never brought up emotions but was focusing more on the psychological/processing aspect. It's understandable though since there is so much misinformation about trauma and the effect it has on our minds/body.
I'm rambling but the point is there is more to it than this.
