This sounds to me like low potassium. I have also had similar problems. Eating too Paleo, with little to no fruit or juice probably makes it more difficult to keep up your potassium. Homemade potassium broth would be great if you have the time and energy to make it. I use coconut water (expensive) or potassium gluconate powder when my body tells me I need it. I also eat plums or prunes a few times a week (I'm blood type O so these are good for my blood-type; even though it is high in sugar, small amounts don't affect me much anymore).
Do you get leg cramps at night? Do you get body jerks just before falling asleep? These are some of my signs that I'm too low in potassium. Also, if you supplement with magnesium, you probably also need to take some potassium to balance the increased magnesium. Increasing your potassium can also greatly help with constipation! It helps your muscles so it also increases your peristalsis! I notice this very quickly when I get my potassium up.
