No, you don't have to have the cold sores to have hpv affecting your lips at all. Its just unfortunately my trigger of the wart virus to pop back up because it makes the lips more sensitive and obviously leaves a sort of open sore that is exposed. HPV and HSV are 2 completely different types of virus and one is not neccesary for the other, but my dcotor said that in my case its very possible that it still being active is the reason the wart skin grew back directly after such a harsh treatment. Because if the herpes wasn't there and my lips were just affected by the wart skin, it would have gotten it.
