Re: wolf? incompetent
"wolf doesn't think that liver flukes are real or a problem"
And the scientific litterature agrees with him, liver flukes are very uncommon in the west. For one of them it exist a quite accurate blood test.
Have you been reading some crank that think everyone have liver flukes because never figured out what was wrong with people. Or have you been reading into totally non-scientific liver flushes, or think u see liver flukes in your toilet.
Liver flukes are very uncommon in west yes, and only a big problem in some parts of the world. Sheep liver fluke there is a blood test for availiable. Giant flukes would typically be seen on ultra sound. Why would a good doctor start to look for the very very uncommon, when he has experience with many people have something quite common.
So sure there are some crank books out there claiming liver flukes is such a big problem every where, but the scientific literature do not support this.
Yes in some river belts in parts of russia where they have tradition of eating a lot of raw fish, in parts of asia etc liver flukes are a big problem. In west scientific literature points towards incredible few have liver flukes.
if you read on the
parasite forum a couple of years back so many people though they had liver flukes (based on some of these nonsense crank ideas out there), they took all type of medicines that are very effective for liver flukes, non of them came with any real success story...
but of course you have all types of people knowing nothing about the
Science of parasites, thinking they see liver flukes in their toilet when doing some stupid so called liver flush..or reading populistic books by people that claim all sorts of nonsense.
Why would a good doctor spend time on the most unlikely first, when he know many more common
parasites that often can be hard to detect typically is the cause.
