Iodine made me Hyperthyroid?
I've had many health issues over the past decade or more. Chronic fatigue, low immunity, infections etc. About a year ago, after reading Dr. Brownstein's book, I decided to try iodine. I've taken between 12-24mg of
Lugol's or Iodoral about half the time and then some natural 1-3mg seaweed capsules.
In the beginning I felt a bit better but overall, my health has deteriorated further over the past year. I'm more tired and have not been able to exercise.Yesterday, I got my new blood test back, and I'm now Hyperthyroid!
My TSH was almost undetectable at <0.006. A year ago, right before starting
Iodine supplementation, it was 1.76. My free T4 was 3.96 now, and 1.5 then. My free T3 was 8 now and 3.1 then. The doctor who read the blood test urged me to see my doctor immediately.
Now I don't know what to do, as I'm pretty sure my doctor has no idea about
Iodine supplementation and will probably think I need medication or have my thyroid removed!
