Re: Need advice, especially Telman..Shall I keep doing LF?

Your ultrasound examination results are nothing to be alarmed about. Its purpose is as follows:

Check the liver; nothing was found and therefore not reported.
Check the gallbladder for stones; sludge, neither were found as the observation was made about the polyps.
Measure the thickens of the gallbladder wall to see is it is enlarged by internal congestion; nothing found.
Measure the diameter of the common bile duct; which was in the normal range indicating that it was clear of obstruction.
Look at the kidneys; which were found.
Check the pancreas which because of you own personal physiology couldn't be seen clearly.
See if you have an abdominal aortic aneurysm; none found

In all respect the examination was negative.

You must have seen polyps of peoples skin, that grow in moist areas such as under the arms or in our noses. They are mostly harmless and the same is true for polyps that grow inside of us they are made up of water of fat in areas that have secretary cells.

H-pylori is very common but can become troublesome when the normal function of the stomach is interrupted. The fact that the h-pylori has gone is a good thing but this has alter your symptoms. The symptoms you describe and those associated with biliary sludge. Sludge doesn't show up on ultrasound unless it contains crystals of cholesterol and the pieces can be quite large and pushed together by the continual contraction of the gallbladder. If the gallbladder isn't working properly it alters the digestion of food which tends to lie in the stomach longer. (Hence the h-pylori problem).

It appears that there is a cycle of relief following a liver-flush then a return of the symptoms (due to low bile salts) then a gradual reduction of symptoms over a 1 to 2 week period. The net gain isn't known for about 12 days.

I can tell that following an ultrasound examination which should "a little 3mm gravel" a person suffering just like you expelled around 5 large 12mm pieces of sludge that were blocking the neck of the gallbladder like a ball valve. Their symptoms were difficult to describe because they were slightly different each time they flared up even after the same food. The underlying right side pain in the shoulder, neck, arm, ribs with reaction to a fatty meal is a giveaway. Fat can still be digested by bacteria in the intestine without gallbladder bile. It appears the bile flow from your liver is fine but for good digestion you need the gallbladder to discharge immediately to prime the digestive system.

Because your gallbladder is operating in a crippled mode now you have a good idea how your digestion would be like without a gallbladder. You don't meet the criteria for surgery which is:

Biliary colic
Gallstones detected on ultra-sound
Thickened gallbladder wall
Elevated blood level of amylase and/or lipase

You may be relieved of the cramping pain by surgery but this isn't always the case and the chances are very good unless you meet all the criteria.
