Some parasites, such as worms are very obvious, but do not show up in medical testing. This is the reason why many diagnose and treat themselves.

There are some protozoa type parasites that I agree medical testing is the only way to get an accurate diagnosis. However, that is not always accurate either from what I have read. Not everyone can travel across country to the one and only specialist who seems to be able to accurately diagnose and treat.
