Re: Old vaccination site painful?

Hi:

I had had several spinal taps in the lower spine (which are truly injections, when you think about it!) about 26 years ago, when I contracted viral meningitis and think I've had detox episodes from them when I began serious experimentation with nutritional supplementation.

It was frightening when the episodes happened because I had thought about osteoporosis (I was in my mid-40s when I first had an incident). I actually was hunched over for a couple of days because of the pain in the lower back. Not a great feeling! I had heard a little crack, believe it or not. I was so glad I worked from home at the time: I really would not have known what to say if one of the neighbors saw me walking the dog while hunched over. :-/

However, this episode evaporated just as mysteriously as it had come on, so it made me wonder what really was happening. My doctor had thought the Vitamin D3 in the fermented cod liver oil he had recommended was working to rebuild my back and he was probably right: I had tested very low for that vitamin. I'm sure the Vitamin A helped to detox, also.

The second time with the back issue, though, was when I began Iodine therapy: The pain was less severe, but bad stiffness when awakening in the morning. I would have to roll out of bed and then the pain would be gone the rest of the day. I began supplementing with more magnesium (both transdermal and tablets. I experienced relief fairly quickly, so I thought that was that.

What has been more of a revelation, though, was the effect that Vitamin C seems to have in supporting the back.

I realized this after having taken a weeklong trip and somehow having forgotten my magnesium supplements! I was nervous, waiting for the back pain to begin but it never did!

What I did do during that time, however, was to up my Vitamin C supplementation dramatically, via ascorbic acid: At the time I was experiencing the remnants of a very bad cold/flu, and I had titrated up to 10-12 grams of Vitamin C (for me, that's a lot) with no ill effects such as diarrhea. I did this for a good 4-5 days.

I now use Vitamin C powder, taking doses several times a day. I am also taking the magnesium, but it really brought home to me the importance of lots of Vitamin C for issues other than the average cold or flu.

Whether it helped to detox, rebuild collagen, whatever, it has been helping.

BTW, I have read that it is often best to heal the adrenals, do a liver cleanse, etc. before taking the Iodine journey because of the detox issues. However, in my case, I found that my tolerance for Vitamin C elevated dramatically AFTER I had begun Iodine supplementation. As a child and for most of my adult life I had never been able to tolerate ascorbic acid until I had been on the iodine supplementation program for quite a while.

Good luck on your journey!
