Re: Female hair loss help
My full regiment right now includes iron, vitamin C, magnesium, and selenium. I plan on continuing this when I restart the
Iodine tomorrow.
As for the psych meds, I've been diagnosed with clinical depression. However, it got to a point where they tried stacking one on top of the other and I hated the "numb" feeling you got. Plus, nothing seemed to change, so it was just one on top of the other. At one point, I was on Lithium, Abilify, Seroquil, Clonazepam, and Paxil on a daily basis.
I should note that the level of lithium started off as one pill at night in September, building up to 4 pills at night in December, then tapering off in March to none in April. My doc told me it was a fairly low level.
Since mid-April, I've only taken a low level of Seroquil each day for anxiety. And I plan on stopping that. Counseling, reading, and taking responsibility for my life seem to have done much more than psych meds.
I've read through info about lithium (thanks for the further links) and they all say that hair loss/weight gain set off by the lithium reversed upon stopping. I would say the only thing that has stopped is the
Acne -- but it hasn't gotten better despite a plethora of cleansers and moisturizers. It's all just stayed, this horrible cystic acne.
As for the hair loss and weight gain, it seems to have gotten worse since stopping. I figured it would take 3-4 weeks for the lithium to fully get out of my system and for my body to get used to it. And I've read that with lithium's half-life, it should get out of the system in 5 days. So you can imagine my frustration as the hair loss continues to go. Right now, I'll try anything.
